PATHWAYS
PATHWAYS is a 24 months involving 6 partners from Italy, Lithuania, Romania, Serbia and Portugal with the aim to foster a holistic approach to children's wellbeing. This will be achieved through high-quality ECEC services that have the capacity to create inclusive, digital and green environments, highlighting the cooperation with parents as a mainstream approach. The key message is that “ECEC services can complement the family and offer support as well as additional opportunities to parents and children” (Key Principles, 2014).
SDGs:
4 Quality Education
10 Reduce inequalities
More details:
The pandemic called for a different understanding and approach to developing high-quality ECEC services, and a greater awareness of the key principles underpinned by the European policy framework in education. The key message is that “ECEC services can complement the family and offer support as well as additional opportunities to parents and children” (Key Principles, 2014).
With this in mind, 6 partners from Italy, Lithuania, Romania, Serbia and Portugal decided to join their efforts and design the PATHWAYS project to respond to the need of developing high-quality ECEC systems by:
- enhancing ECEC professionals' skills and competences to promote parents' empowerment and engagement in children's education,
- designing learning activities that foster the inclusion of all children and their holistic development,
- creating synergies with the professional community that gravitates around early childhood development based on cooperation, trust, and solidarity.
To achieve these objectives, the project will produce the following results:
- PAVING THE WAY: an online Training Curriculum to improve skills and competences of ECEC professionals collaborating with parents/guardians to be elaborated in 6 languages;
- PATHWAYS FOR EDUCATORS AND PARENTS: a Compendium gathering 30 learning activities to be tested in 4 countries by ECEC professionals and parents;
- LESSONS ON THE WAY: Impact Assessment Report analyzing the data on the piloting;
- MULTIPLYING PATHWAYS: a blueprint on how stakeholders can further support the meaningful cooperation between ECEC professionals and parents.
