VET CARE
VET CARE is an Erasmus+ initiative for improving and encouraginginclusion and diversity in all fields of education, training, youth and sport and adapting vocational education and training to labour market needs.
The project will show how inclusion and diversity are a key priority for social inclusion and integration of migrant populations in European societies, in education and labour market, due to the high level of migrants coming to this region, balancing the aging European population in all EU Member States atmedium/long term.
Overall the project intends to assist with integration and capacity building and upskill of migrant care workers, particularly migrant women in the European workforce and to fight and change discrimination practices in Europe by developing good practices.
Objectives
The main objectives are:
- provide practical and useful answers regarding qualifications for the labor market, in the segment of long-term care services, contributing for integration and social inclusion of migrants, one of the major workforce in this area.
- strengthen vulnerable populations, namely care workers' competitiveness in the care work labor market by professionalizing their profiles as care workers, as well as strengthening their linguistics competences, offering the possibility to encourage their access to higher qualification in the healthcare sector
- provide data that is lacking in terms of field needs, characterizing migrant care workers in Europe.
- transfer knowledge from different levels of stakeholders, contributing to implementing a logic of national/transnational cooperation and partnership in the sector. The idea is to build on a “network” logic that will bring together European countries with the same needs.
Main activities
- identifying good practices developed at European level regarding formal and informal training on long-term care services;
- characterizing migrants care workers at European levelnear local NGOs working with migrants, employment centers and care networks;
- assessing training needs; developing an e-learning course/materials to answersector current demands.
The project will be able to:
- create a “greater network” bringing together several institutions to empower them inupskilling on gender equality, diversity valuation, social inclusion within long-term care sector;
- provide an overview of different migrant backgrounds in Europe, providing access to digital tools/toolkit free and open to anyone who needs anyone who needs to create a training and/or want to learn, as well as a pilot-pool model that will be able to respond to the current demand on long-term care workers regarding aging population and high level of migrants in the EU;
- contribute to a better knowledge and understanding of the migrant care workers landscape and training/qualification needs;
- foster cooperation among stakeholders from the care services sector that will allow to create suitable care work pools answering the needs of the labor market at European level.
