MOVE-UP
MOVE-UP is an Erasmus+ project aimed at designing, piloting and mainstreaming an innovative, flexible and quality upskilling pathway for low skilled unemployed or inactive mothers in Italy, Austria, Greece and Portugal. This pathway offers them the opportunity to assess, recognize and further develop their prior learning for facilitating their participation in training and in the labor market, mainly by enhancing thecompetences they gain thanks to their role of parent.
SDGs:
An End Poverty in All Its Forms Everywhere
4 Quality Education
5 Gender Equality
8 Decent work and economic growth
10 Reduce inequalities
More details
The MOVE-UP project is a 24-month initiative for developing a flexible and quality upskilling pathway for low skilled unemployed or inactive mothers, offering the opportunity of assessing, validating and further developing their prior learning for facilitating their participation in training and in the labor market, by enhancing the competences they gain thanks to their role as parent.
The focus of prior learning is on the Personal, Social and Learning to learn competence (PSL) that they gained/are gaining thanks to their role of parent, thus byu sing and preliminary valuing it as a driver for upskilling. Indeed, PSL competence has proven to be functional to ignite the motivation and predisposition towards all the other Key Competences for lifelong learning, thus the capacity to fully benefit from afterwards basic skills acquisition (literacy, numeracy and digital skills) and employment opportunities.
By valuing mothers' competences, mainly acquired through informal learning opportunities and daily life experiences as new parents, can have an immediate positive effect on their willingness to be empowered and involved in formal learning opportunities to better match highly required job positions in the labour market.
So, on one hand, the project is going to foster innovation in Adult Education (AE) by supporting and enhancing the capacity of AE providers and stakeholders to contribute inequality between women and men, as well as insocial inclusion, through the promotion of a different mind-set towards motherhood, intended as a potential to succeed in the labor market rather than as a limitation in women's affirmation; on the other hand, the project is going to work on low-skilled mothers' empowerment and upskilling for facilitating their access to education, training and lifelong learning.
Main activities:
- prototyping, testing and delivery an innovative Outreach Strategy and related guidance measures to overcome gender bias and stereotypes and make evident and valued the target group's experience and needs as women and mothers in the context of lifelong learning;
- self-assessment of PSL competence and evaluation of basic skills through the administration of specific tools, resulting in a written report including individual strengths and competences to be improved, and needs for upskilling;
- design of the MOVE-UP Plan, based on tailored learning programs, learning by doing and modular structure, aimed at digital developing/reinforcing, numeracy and literacy competences as well as at exploiting the PSL competence acquired thanks to their role of parents for increasing motivation towards and strengthening the acquisition of basic skills and for employability and professional development.
- to practice directly the digital competences which the training aims at developing as well.
